When we first got started we were known as the "Sing Like a Bloke Crew", then for a little bit longer "the Spookey Blokes of Ashton" but that was misspelt and also sounded a bit too close to our inspiration The Spooky Men's Chorale.
Some bright spark, who shall remain nameless so as to preserve the mystery, thought, we are from Ashton Keynes, known round these parts as AK, the average age is "around" 47, ish, so that give us "The AK47s".
Clever, but borderline controversial. However, help was at hand, in the guise of inspiration from one of the greatest Western movies of all time, The Magnificent 7. Put the two things together and you have THE magnificent AK47 - hopefully a rather fetching epithet and in no way linked to dangerous weaponry, despite what Google might tell you.
