Bradford Roots belter under the belt

Bradford Roots has been a great way to get the local festival season kick started for FIVE years now and this year's was another belter.

The blokes were very pleased to be invited back and put on a strong show on the main stage to a pretty much full auditorium and a very appreciative crowd to boot.

And, ne'er a "prop" in sight as we performed entirely gimmick-less, no hats, no beards, no nufin' but our naked voices, for the first time since the last time (which was probably by accident...!).

It felt a bit odd, but maybe next time we can use the full kit list as we sing in The White Hart in Ashton Keynes on Saturday 4th February, more of which soon, but in the next post we need to celebrate a significant landmark for this august channel - can you guess what it might be??

P.S. And thanks to Valerie Moss for allowing us to use this picture she took of us in action.

BoA Roots belter!

Not long now till our very first gig of the year already!  And what a belter it should be, too!

For an amazing fifth year running Lisa and Chris Samuel and their many helpers are putting on another massive display of local talent from the citadel that is Bradford on Avon and surrounding area, which luckily extends to North North Wiltshire and little old us.

There are some cracking performers and so much to see including The Magnificent AK47 on Saturday night and Ashton Keynes' very own Big Brunch Band in action at the festival for the first time.

It's sure to be a great weekend of entertainment so if you haven't already, find out more and get your tickets from http://www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk/bradfordrootsfestival.

Blokes in "rather a decent show" shocker

Who would have thought that this dodgy looking lot assembled surreptitiously to one side of the Stage Door at the Bradford Roots show mere moments before storming said auditorium would have produced such a decent sound!?

Have a listen to our rather nifty "Bradford Roots Sampler" and judge for yourself and marvel at the crowd joining in towards the end of "Delilah".

Bradford Roots Rocks!

What a great start to our gigging year!  Bradford Roots really Rocks!  The now annual fixture of a two day festival hosted by our very own belovéd ChoirMeister and his Mrs to nurture the musical roots that can be found in the rather special place that is Bradford on Avon.

The blokes came out with a storming performance that had the audience in the completely full auditorium clapping in loud appreciation, sometimes before we had even finished the song!  We had just got to the end of the "running on the spot" bit in our newly polished version of Magnificent when the audience went wild in appreciation of our exertion only for us to have another reprise to complete with a glorious salute, as can be seen in the photo above.

And we received a very kind compliment from a Twitterer (as we are led to believe the young call them) stating that The Magnificent AK47 "are officially the manliest choir ever, you guys rock"  see the evidence for your own eyes at our very own "Tweet Spot" (or whatever the young call it) at https://twitter.com/magnificentak47.

A  very BIG thank you to all who made the event possible and here's to next year's event and all the other mini-man adventures we have planned in between.

1 more sleep till Bradford Roots

A final warning for the good people of Bradford on Avon that we will be heading towards their lovely community festival tomorrow with much excitement in anticipation of kicking off our 2015 season of performances.

The event is starting today if you are still interested in nipping along to see the other local acts.

We will be on stage around 15:00 for a 40 minute set including some newer pieces that we ripped through the other night at our first Weekday Workshop of the year.

There is also a "special Grand Finale" planned which might involve us, if nothing else looking on in a bewildered fashion!
