By the time you read this, two of our intrepid blokes will be just about to go on the wireless on BBC Radio Bristol's Saturday Breakfast Show with one Ali Vowles.

She's a brave lady taking on interviewing these blokes so early on a Saturday morning... let's just hope they will be awake enough after their early start venturing down from Ashton Keynes way!

Beautiful? Us?? On the BBC Radio again

One of the ladies who visited us the other week has been busy editing what she recorded and, dare we say it, has made us sound actually quite good!

Ladies everywhere #1

Interesting evening at our Workshop rehearsal last night as we were infiltrated by a number of non-Blokes...

First we had Marie from Radio Wiltshire with some very high tech kit recording some of our singing and conducting a couple of interviews.

More Magnificent Radio

We are due to be on the radio again!  This time it is one of our very own local stations, Radio Corinium, are scheduling a piece from an interview between Ashton Keynes's very own special correspondent, Martin "Nic" Nichols and one of the prime instigators of The Magnificent AK47, Neil Burston.

We have been told that the piece is due to go our this afternoon in the "Town Crier" show some time after 12:30 - more information can be found at http://www.coriniumradio.co.uk/programmes/ and we will keep you posted when we know more.

More Magnificent AK47 on Radio Foyle

One of the many great characters we bumped into whilst in #MagnificentDerry was a guy by the name of Mark Patterson who came across us in Badgers pub just opposite the St Columb's Hall just so happened to be a bit of a local celeb being a presenter on Radio Foyle who did a great Live Stream of us.

He loved what we were doing and by chance we bumped into him again on the Derry Peace Bridge and he Live Streamed us again!

Finally we got to meet up at his day job at Radio Foyle as the last piece of icing on an already generously huge portion of cake that was our time in Derry.

DR Sweeney, Magnificent Ethno-musicologist, on the Radio

We're not just a bumbling bunch of beer-soaked blokes you know... No! We've got some right clever beer-soaked blokes too as well...

One such bloke is the marvelous DR Sweeney, one of our resident Ethno-musicologists, and he has been on the Radio to prove it.

There is a rumour going round that The Magnificent AK47 may be on the radio again.

Alone in my Shed Heaven on the Radio?

Imagine this correspondent's excitement when the drudgery of the journey home through thick, mirky fog was punctuated by news of a radio program about coping with life and doing it with Sheds!

A program about Sheds? On the radio? That'll be Shed Town.

In actual fact it was Steven Mangan speaking on the Simon Mayo Show at around 1 hour and 7 minutes and 56 seconds in, to be precise.  Steven describes it as being about "a group of people who leave their ordinary lives behind and go and live in sheds on a beach to escape", "they are all there for different reasons, but it's a sort of benign cult", "it's funny, and it's, er, slightly odd, and it's quite emotional, and it's really interesting". 

Sound familiar??  

They go on to discuss (at around 1:12:00) that "a shed is a very powerful image, people love their shed, it's a haven, it's a storage place and they'd be lost without it, particularly men", "it's the man cave idea", "it's something about our psyche, we need it", "all men lead lives of quiet desperation and it's about trying to escape that." - how very true.

A little more from the scraps of websites that exist about the program say "Shedtown is a dream born out of quiet desperation.  Sitcom about two middle-aged men who, after being made redundant, decide to live on a beach.  Series One has two friends finding themselves slipping inexorably into middle age and throughout Series Two our wooden icon of escape and isolation 'the shed' becomes a symbol of possibility and change; a new community by the sea where our heroes can circumnavigate the mundane, once and for all."
