The sound of Singing in the Shed

Listen and marvel at the sound of a few dozen blokes singing a piece they learnt literally minutes before at this year's "Singing in the Shed" and prepared to be moved by the loveliness of the heartfelt harmony.

Some of you might recognise one or two familiar faces from the ranks of The Magnificent AK47 and other well known choral groups that have been known to congregate at the rather wonderful BlokeFest.

Singing in the Shed 2019

Today is the day a few of our blokes will be venturing Northwards for the first time this year for a singing weekend, but hopefully not the last... next time it will be "proper" Up North at BlokeFest (Up North) http://www.blokefest.net/.

They are on their way to the third "Singing in the Shed", erstwhile gentlemen's singing weekend inside a bit shed - more info can be found at https://www.facebook.com/singingintheshed.

Don't forget to pack your copy of the BlokeFest MAN-ual, currently available for download from http://www.blokefest.net/more-stuff.html#manual to help you remember all those songs to sing!

Shed heaven

What a great pleasure it was to revisit Singing in the Shed this weekend...!

Such fabulous fun singing some beautiful and some fantastically energising pieces of music with a great bunch of blokes - even the 7:30am fire alarm that got everybody out of the hostel in the rain didn't dampen the experience.

And remember please gentlemen, "TWO rows".

Looking forward to BlokeFest already - but if you haven't already got your ticket then you had better head over to BlokeFest.net to get it as there are even fewer left after this weekend.

Two more sleeps till Singing in the Shed 2017

Not long now till many of us pack our ear plugs and BlokeFest T-Shirts and head up North and West a bit for this year's Singing in the Shed extravaganza.

Have a look at some of the interesting nuggets at https://www.facebook.com/singingintheshed/ and not forgetting that it is now only four months to go to BlokeFest which has only a few dozen tickets left on sale already so hop on over to http://www.blokefest.net/ to secure yours before they are all gone.

And happy singing, Shedders.  Hopefully some pics and stories will emerge.

Singers in the Shed

What a great weekend of singing.  Well done to all involved in the first "Singing in the Shed" and here's to many more.

Listen to a small sample of a couple of the pieces that were taught over the three days.

And as was heard mentioned as the parting words "see you at BlokeFest!"

One more sleep til Singing in the Shed

Who needs sleep when there is the excitement of a new singing event with loads of top blokes?!

Last minute advice from the organizers includes "1 - Bring warm clothes. It's winter in a big Victorian brick and glass building. It could get chilly!"

LastMinute.com advice from Magnificent land "2 - Bring ear plugs - for the dorms that will be full of blokes - there are bound to be one or two "resonant rumblers in the rooms!

#getmensinging, not #getmensnoring.

Stand by for reports back from the event.

Only 5 more sleeps till "Singing in the Shed"

Many of the our blokes are very excited that it is now only FIVE more sleeps (excluding naps) until the inaugural midwinter BlokeSong gathering that is "Singing in the Shed".

Those due to be attending are very much looking forward to the experience of sampling more singing in the magnificent settings of our industrial heritage, as well as gathering together with a bunch of great blokes, many old friends and new faces.

Reports and pictures to follow as we continue to #getmensinging.

#getmensinging - Singing in the Shed

It's not quite Mid-Winter, it's not quite BlokeFest so it is not "Mid-Winter BlokeFest" but a brand new exciting weekend to #getmensinging, in a MASSIVE shed!

Brain child of serial BlokeFest attendees, Phil Read and Dave Mountain, leader and member respectively of Oxford's wonderful ManChoir, plus their mate Ian Hughson, it features a series of workshops during the day and much other stuff at other times.

Singing in the Shed is a men's singing weekend led by three of the country's finest men's community choir leaders - Chris Samuel, Dom Stichbury and the aforementioned Philip Read.

It's open to absolutely all men: no need to read music and no prior experience is necessary: all you need is the desire to have a great weekend making music in an amazing space.

More info can be found at https://www.facebook.com/singingintheshed

If you want to come along then you can still purchase day workshop tickets, but hurry, the full weekend has already sold out - email singshed@gmail.com before it is too late.
