Help us sell out the Sundial as Thanks Giving for 40 years of Johnny

Hello!  It's been a while... things have been outwardly quiet on the Magnificent front but that is about to change as we crank back into action at one of our most regular haunts... The Sundial Theatre in Cirencester.

This concert will raise funds for the Donor Family Network, a charity which supports families who have lost a loved one who has donated organs for transplant, and at the same time raising awareness of organ donation and the NHS Organ Donation Register.

And we have much to thank this amazing organisation for, in the shape of the small but (otherwise reasonably) perfectly formed Mr Johnny Mayell, has been one of our brothers in song these many years at BlokeFest and The Magnificent AK47.  He in turn is indebted to one such family who made it possible for him to undergo a successful kidney transplant in 1979.  Forty years later Johnny and the kidney are still going strong!

We have already sold out the venue and they have put more tickets on sale so please try to come along to what should be an emotional and memorable concert, help us sell it out for a second time (!) and raise lots of money for a great cause.

Tickets are available from www.ticketsorce.co.uk/sundial

If you can’t, but would like to make a donation to the Donor Family Network, Johnny has set up a Justgiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/john-mayell.

Sparkling Sassparella and Magnificent Men

It certainly was a sparkling performance from the ladies of Sassparella as they showed off their bling and sheer enjoyment of performing to a large and enthusiastic audience at the Sundial Theatre in Cirencester this past Saturday night.

And it has to be said that despite several members feeling poorly and suffering from "Man colds" (at the very least, it could have been leading to/ from proper Man flu', but we won't make a fuss and go on about it...), the blokes raised their game to match the ladies with a tremendously boisterous rendition of "Nothing like a beard" and some super sensitive singing of the quieter ones, like "Dark as a Dungeon".

All leading up to a very spicy sing-off in the encore with a wonderfully feisty group flirt of "Voro Ivanicki".  And as for the bar singing afterwards, those who were there will know it was a "crashing" success and the ladies were finally dragged away to begin their journey home after a top night for all.

Thanks to the Sundial who looked after us and thanks to everyone who came along for another great night of song and laughs.  See some of you at Beer and Carols in a couple of weeks.

An antidote to Black Friday...?

It's all over the news in Internetland and also the real world that today is a dark day, a "Black Friday"...

To those of us still a little bleary from a poor night's sleep because of on-going Man flu' so we may not have understood all of what it is about, but it does not sound good news, so let us try and cheer you up with some heartening notices and alternative options.

1. Don't spend any money unnecessarily today on tat that you (a) don't really want (b) don't really need and (c) don't really have space in your already cluttered abode.

2. Come along to our gig this Saturday 25th Nov at the Sundial Theatre, Cirencester with the wonderful Sassparella

or

3. Make a donation of a fraction of what you might have spent at Prostate Cancer charity https://prostatecanceruk.org/

There, bet you are feeling better about yourself and the world already!

;-)

There's always one...

From the Goods Shed - thanks Fiona!
There's always one who just needs to spend that little extra time getting his costume sorted for the second half, and it's usually John W...

Find out if he can turn up on time by coming along to our last gig of what has been yet another Magnificent year at the Sundial Theatre this Saturday with top ladies choral group Sassparella.

On the Cirencester Scene

We would respectfully like to draw you attention, in a particularly understated way, to the fact that we are performing at Sundial Theatre, Cirencester this coming Saturday 25th November and would very much like to invite those who have not already purchased tickets to please see that they do to avoid disappointment of not being able to get one later in the week.

To help with this we have helpfully pointed out how you can read more about the show in a decent size posting in the latest edition of the very wonderful, and thoroughly informative, Cirencester Scene - you can see the full article on the Interweb by clicking here, or to get your tickets without further distraction, click here for the Sundial gig box office.

Magnificent (on the) aironauts

More Magnificents on the Radio alert!

A crack squad of media savvy (on the)aironauts has been assembled to help spearhead our media offensive promoting our next events and are due to be on Sue Davies' BBC Radio Wiltshire show on Saturday 4th November, on air around 11:25.

We will be plugging not one event, but THREE (maybe even more...).

Firstly, next Saturday 11th November we are running a "Sing Like a Bloke" workshop lead by our belovéd ChoirMeister, Mr Chris Samuel, followed by a performance including the workshoppers at the rather splendid Tetbury Goods Shed - a venue we are very much looking forward to performing in - Full details about the venue can be found at https://shed-arts.co.uk/and where you can also purchase tickets online or from Tetbury Information Centre.

Next up is a return on Saturday 25th November to the Sundial Theatre in Cirencester for our fourth annual end of season bash.  The last three shows have all sold out and we are supported by a super ladies singing group Sassparella, all the way from that there city of The Bath across the border in Somerset.  We sang with them in their fair city a while ago and that was a sell out too!

The message is clear on this one, book now to avoid disappointment, visit https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/GLKMLM.

And notice of the final event of the year on Wednesday 13th December for the Ashton Keynes "Beer and Carols" in the White Hart pub, starting from 20:00.

It won't look like this tomorrow...

A solitary bloke pretending to be the audience last night in the Sundial Theatre as he puts the Magnificents through their paces ahead of the Big Gig on Friday.

He may be a bigger than average personality, but he can't quite fill all the auditorium, but on Friday night he won't need to because well over 200 others will do it for him!

We are Sold Out on the regular capacity with only 5 spaces left on the additional seats on the floor in front of the stage.

If you haven't visited https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/198165 and reserved your ticket, you have probably left it too late.

Here's to a MONUMENTAL night's entertainment.

We're on the telly!

Well, sort of...  We are featuring on a big screen that looks like a big TV to our technologically unsophisticated eyes, and we are indeed featured on it  with a picture and everything.

The said screen is displayed prominently in the Sundial Theatre where we will attempting to grace the stage this coming Friday 27th.

And this will go down in our annals as "The show that keeps selling out"... After selling out the initial allocation of over 200 seats the venue have released 30 more and most of those have now sold so we are looking for a particularly packed house.

Just as well then that we had a full dress rehearsal last night to get used to the location and how to assemble the "man line", which is harder to do than it might look, as we regularly proved last night!

We also have some fabulous staging to add to the scene and we are certain people will be very impressed by our inventiveness and ingenuity - special thanks to Andy E as PropMeister and all his hard work.

Those few remaining tickets available from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/198165 - it's going to be MONUMENTAL.

Scooch up!!

Are you "Norman Nomates" or just a spare person looking for a great night out?  Either way, we have the show and venue for you, for now...!

But only just.

There are quite literally two places left for our gig at the Sundial Theatre in Cirencester this coming Friday 27th November in the regular seating and only 8 left in the additional seats that have been, er, added.

The message is clear, book now or face disappointment of experiencing a double helping of Magnificents and witnessing our new CD entitled "MONUMENTAL" being unleashed.

A week to go... Have we been photoshopped?

We are just about one week to go before we unleash a MONUMENTAL evening of song and serious silliness on a somewhat suspecting public with a double helping of Magnificents.

The blokes are busily honing their act, remembering songs we haven't sung for a good while and buffing up a whole host of new ones, the like of which no one has ever seen or heard from us before.  The show will be the culmination of months' of work since we gathered at BlokeFest way back in June this year and began the journey learning the newer pieces.

We have a bunch of aural and visual tricks up our sleeve to thrill and entertain as well a couple of new pieces that will tug at your sensitive side and one that might even scare everyone (a bit).

And our splendid new compact disk "MONUMENTAL" will be officially unleashed, to much excitement within the group.  This is a marvelous musical artifact for the discerning aficionado of BlokeSong, and and has been a truly Monumental undertaking, having been the best part of two years in the making.  More later.

And the "photoshopping"?  Apparently the printers thought the above photo so ingenious and incredible that they thought it had been "photoshopped", ie faked!  We are here to right this wrongful assumption and affirm that there is nothing "fake" about The Magnificent AK47, it is all genuine "as you see us", as you can witness for yourself at our live shows.

Talking of which, a final nudge that tickets have been selling really well indeed to the point where if you don't get yours by the end of the weekend you are likely to not be able to get one so please avoid disappointment and visit https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/198165.

Shining lights in Magnificent-land

Shining a light on the inner workings of those Magnificent men and their well oiled singing machine, we grab the inside scoop from a recent rehearsal at a workshop in darkest North North Wiltshire.

And what a scoop it is!  Yes, the blokes will be taking to the stage of the Sundial Theatre this coming Friday 27th November and will be lighting up the night, quite literally.

Although this is clearly big news, we can't reveal too much information other than to say if you go down to the woods today or your local DIY store you're in for a big surprise - they may well have sold out of torches.

But fear not, all will be revealed at the Sundial as the blokes unleash their treasure chest of new songs, some full of beautiful, sensitive and delightful singing, and one or two new belters.

Hurry over to https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/198165 where there are a dwindling number of tickets left to snap up, but only if you are quick and if you are coming, let us know so we are forewarned via https://www.facebook.com/events/926818877392800/.

If you go down to the woods today...

... you're sure of a big surprise!

For one thing you might find a bunch of blokes in the company of a bunch of teddy bears, gazing longingly at their heroes (that's the teddy bears gawping at their singing heroes you understand).

As you can see from the sports equipment in the background the lads have turned their back on their spiritual home and regular rehearsal space in favour of a gym.  No, only kidding (as you probably guessed) but they have been doing copious warm up exercises and lots of limbering up for their next gig in a couple of weeks' time.

They have also been learning quite a lot of new songs (at least 5 likely to make the revamped set) ahead of their Monumental Big Gig at Cirencester's Sundial Theatre on Friday 27th November.

Tickets still available at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/198165 - but still going briskly so avoid disappointment and don't delay getting yours.

And the teddy bears??  All will become clear on the night - but you will have to be there to find out.

Turnip Soup a Triumphant Success

Gringos, you can trust them, at least according to the chorus of one of our new songs that was premiered at our gig at the Sundial Theatre last week to much acclaim.

Right before the show there was an impressive collection of gringos, bandidos, and even a man stuck on top of what we believe was a comedy horse costume.  All in a night's work for our brave lads.

In fact, there were many new hats getting a first outings as well as two more new songs, our homage to Welsh male voice choirs in the guise of a superb rendition of the classic, Myfanwy, and our tribute to Georgian inspired Aussie man choirs, with the awesome Shen Xar.

No one in the audience appeared too perturbed with any mispronunciations of ancient Georgian but they did seem to relish the silliness of the beards, the "Vly" descending from the skies to threaten the Turmot and some pretty decent singing, even if we do say so ourselves, but only because family, friends and various associates said it first.

Generous applause was received at the end of each piece, so much so that we were lured back on for an unplanned encore that was such a surprise only the basses got told what song we were going to do until the split second before we started!

One final audience participation version of "Down to the River" later we finished and had to leave the capacity audience of well over 200 souls baying for more or rushing out to buy CDs or sign up to the mailing list.

Special thanks go to all who helped make it another great evening, in particular the stunningly brilliant vocal gymnastics of The Croutons, all at the Sundial Theatre and all who helped with the Memorabilia Stand.  Turnip Soup was indeed an autumnal heart warming success.

New for Autumn

We have just received this link to the new Autumn/Winter Catalog from the Sundial Theatre in Cirencester where we will be performing along with the much more compact (there's only 3 of them) grouping of The Croutons and we thought it looked rather splendid.
And it looks even more splendid on the full site that can be found here, with us nestled in amongst such greats as Morecambe and Wise impersonators and Phil Jupitus before turning the page to find Nigel Farage!

And once again, let us take the opportunity to make it known that tickets are selling, and at a pretty reasonable pace!  By the time you read this around 40 will have already been snapped up so really, don't dally, click here to book now or avoid disappointment.
