Roll up to Lansdown!

A gentle reminder that we are back in action this coming Friday night in the lovely Lansdown Hall in that there People's Republic of Stroud, to serenade the locals with our tall tales of daring-do and metaphor-laden angst about so-called masculinity in the modern age.

Prepared to be moved to tears, hopefully for good reasons of mirth or melancholy and at the right moments, so please bring your own hankie and we look forward to providing you with much thought-provoking entertainment and rich, manly harmonies from across the border with North North Wiltshire.

Back in action, despite being poorly

By rights it shouldn't be allowed, we should be resting, calmly in a darkened room, with a damp hanky on our furrowed, fevered brow, with our dearly beloved attending to our every considerable need.  

But no, the public demands our presence, they said, you're not so poorly that you can't drag yourself out to do it in front of all those people.

So, despite our better judgement and against medical advice, we are being lured out of our summer slumbers to unleash yet more new material on an unsuspecting public this coming Saturday in The People's Republic of Stroud, at their very own Stroud Fringe.

Hopefully we will find some of you, dear reader, loitering around to hear our latest masterpiece by that devilishly clever songsmith, our very own Top Bloke, Roger Jackson, veteran workshop leader at BlokeFest.  He has penned a plaintive ditty about the trials and tribulations and slings and arrows of being a bloke who is sick, but not receiving much sympathy - a song that has struck a chord within the group - can't think why...

As demonstrated by Brother Matt, we will soldier on manfully, even though some of us are suffering, from "Man flu"

Georgian Singing Workshop in the P.R. of Stroud

Word has reached us of another Georgian Singing Evening with Carl Linich on Tuesday November 26th in STROUD in one of the first floor rooms in the Centre for Science & Arts, Lansdown, Stroud from 7.30 till 9.30. 

The workshop will be with Carl, an American who founded the first Georgian choir in the West, the Kavkasia Trio, and has won awards from the Georgian State for his contribution to the preservation and promotion of Georgian singing.

Carl will teach by ear, and promises that he will match the difficulty to the ability of the singers who come on the evening!  All are welcome!  It's NOT just for blokes.

The event is being organized by lapsed, but none the less Magnificent Bloke Nick Mills who has been putting on singing events for many years and several of the current Magnificent Blokes attended Carl's workshop in Oxford the other night and can vouch for the fact that it will be a very interesting evening and you will learn tons about the language, the culture and how to sing this very special genre.

The workshop will be costed on a self-assessed sliding scale £12/£10/£8 depending what you feel is right.   The organizers will provide herb teas & biccies.
