Where were you? On a bloody big truck

Now, as we all know, "Big Mike" is not know as Big Mike because of some twisted English irony, no, it's because he is bloody big, right?!  Now imagine "Big Mike" on a truck that makes Big Mike look like "Average Joe Size Mike" . . . now that is one bloody big truck in our book.

This past Easter Mike and his big little mate Tony went off on a "Boy's Adventure" together and drove a truck to the south of Morocco and back.  This photo is taken near some "rocky ones" (mountains, in English) which were somewhere near Knotalott over looking the Ergs approaching Rissani.

So, the scores are in

1. The Location - 4.0 (Manly, rugged, intimedating, and that's just Mike.  Impressive landscape and use of perspective despite no visible signage as irruefutable proof, if Mike says it's Morocco, we say it is Morocco.)

2. The Pose - 3.5 (Good - can you look more pointless grandeur stood on top of a vehicle?)

3. The X-Factor - 3.5 - (the spectacular views and crazy Boy's Own Story of how they got there)

Making 11.0 -
making the highest scoring entry from someone standing on a large vehicle in the middle of nowhere - can you beat this?

A cracking day out at The Bath Festival

Well, we may not be on the bill (this year . . .) but we have one of the next best possibile options, our fellow performers The Croutons are on the bill AND they are on the first page of the website (well this page at least!).

There is a very impressive line up and especially on Friday 1st June when The Croutons are perfoming because it is FREE!  The Capella Nova group sounds  particularly of interest for the likes of The Magnificent AK47 crowd and there is plenty of other music and performance to entertain until the fireworks later in the evening.

Needless to say, it being Bath you will need to plan your parking and excape route carefully and maybe even consider a hit and run via the train from Chippenham.

Either way, wear your TMAK47 T-Shirt and enjoy!

3rd June - Cracking Good day out Double-header

Wow, this is the big time boys!  Middle of the poster for the Chippenham Folk Festival and for an event with its own name "A Convivial Commotion".

In all seriousness, this is another very prestigious event for us and we must thank the behind the scenes efforts of Chris our ChoirMeister and Alan Hi for having words in the right ears about this.  We are very honoured to play such a long established event and have the chance to perform on the same stage as much more established choirs.

We will also actually have the opportunity to sing with them and also have a bit of fun on the way now that Chris has been to a meeting of the Choir leaders and "explained about us" and cooked up one or two little plots with which to collude with the other choirs.

Don't forget we are performing at the Ashton Keynes Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Big Lunch on the High Road at approximately 13:15 earlier on the day, then high tailing it over to Chippenham to polish off a memorable day with the second leg of this Double-Header dual-gig.  Thank goodness most of us will have the next day off to recover!

Flash Mob Invite

Ssssh, don't tell anyone, but we've been invited to spread the word about a forthcoming "flash mob" that is being organized to celebrate / publicise a festival at which we may or may not be performing at the beginning of July.

Nothing too risqué but as you can tell it is all very hush hush but if you, or anyone else is interested, just let us know by the usual means, ie email to themagnificentak47@gmail.com and we can do the rest.

They are great fun, if nothing else to see the startled look on happy shoppers' faces when it all starts up.  A number of number have already partaken of such activity in the past as can be witnessed by viewing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEWBw-Zwh7s.

Remember, "you ain't seen me, right?"*

* ancient Fast Show reference in case that didn't mean anything to you.

When first suggested by our beloved ChoirMeister it sounded like a crazy idea, three people sing a stanza for each part, then each section sing that part then the next section joins in until all three parts are going.  Ok, so far maybe nothing too crazy sounding about that, but add in the fact that the song is about the most Blokey of things imaginable, Duct Tape, and that the intention is to wrap the soloists up with said material as they sing, now that's at least heading towards crazy!

And yet here is it in all its finery, the practice material for all to listen and learn.  Please note that the arrangement on the Duct Tape All Together Edited is not necessarily the final arrangement but is for guidance at this stage.

An actual performance of the piece can be found nestling in amongst others from our most recent rehearsal at http://soundcloud.com/thetrulymagnificentak47/sets/rehearsal20120422http://soundcloud.com/thetrulymagnificentak47/sets/rehearsal20120422

Now, here's looking forward to the first live enaction of the piece!
